Welcome to Flamingo Gardens, Botanical Gardens and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary. Our Botanical Gardens is a showcase for over 3000 species of rare and exotic, tropical, subtropical, and native plants. Our Arboretum contains some of the largest trees in the state of Florida. The Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the largest collection of Florida native wildlife- including alligators, bears, bobcats, eagles, otters, panthers, peacocks and flamingos!

Every Scout Troop/Group must have a leader with them. You get one (1) free adult for every seven (7) Scouts. You may purchase adult tickets on the registration page.

Focuses on pollinators and the beauty and importance of South Florida's plant and insect world. Includes:
  • Planting a seed to start your own pollinator garden at home
  • A narrated tram ride through wetlands, rainforest and native hammock habitats, focusing on the benefits plants provide us and our environment.
  • A guided walk through our Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary to observe panthers, black bear, bobcats, alligators, flamingos, otters and their role in seed dispersal and why pollinators are important to their existence.
  • I Spy a butterfly - A "hunt" for butterflies, caterpillars, and signs of their life cycle.

  • Working in small teams, participants examine seeds to speculate how they are dispersed.
  • Narrated tram ride through our wetlands, rainforest and native hammock habitats, focusing on the benefits plants provide us and our environment.
  • A "hunt" for pollinators and the host and nectar plants that support them.
  • An in-depth guided walk through our Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary to observe panthers, black bear, bobcats, alligators, flamingos, otters and their role in seed dispersal and why pollinators are important.

Participants will explore Flamingo Gardens, in small teams, looking for and documenting types of pollination and seed dispersal. Bring your phone or camera in order to capture your exploration. Includes:
  • A look at a variety of seeds, and theorize the why and how of seed dispersal. A visit to our animal loop and discussion about their role in seed dispersal and why pollinators are important to them.
  • Narrated tram ride through our wetlands, rainforest and native hammock habitats, focusing on the benefits plants provide us and our environment.
  • A "hunt" in the Meadow for pollinators and the host and nectar plants that support them.
  • Garden expedition:an interpretative walk in the gardens, looking for plants that disperse their seeds in different ways.
